Tagged by Kay

  1. Find the 6th folder in your photo album and then the 6th photo.
  2. Pray you remember the details.
  3. Post it on your blog.
  4. Tag 5 others and leave a comment to let them know they have been tagged.
So in checking my photo albums under Webshots the 6th folder contains my Cow Collection and the 6th picture is this wonderful cow bottle which I bought from my friend Delena, who does the beautiful painting.

I now tag: Linda, Kim, Vonna, and Nicole.

Stitching Update...

Prior to leaving for Arizona I completed crocheting the pillow I was working on. My stitching while in AZ was limited but I did get an ornament done.

Meeting new friends

I was lucky on this trip to Arizona to make the acquaintance of some fantastic ladies. While we've "known" each other for a while from our daily chats on the various Yahoo groups it was wonderful to put a face with the names.

Hubby and I took a trip to Tucson on Tuesday (sounds like a movie title huh?) and while he took a tour of the Pima Air Museum I spent my time visiting with Diane, Nikki and Sharon. I had such a great time!
On Wednesday I drove over to Attic Needlework and the first cheerful face I encountered was Jean, the shop owner. To say this shop was gorgeous is an understatement! It's a shop and museum all rolled into one. All the walls were covered in the most awesome models! Jean and her staff were just the friendliest.

Hello from AZ

Wow, we've been on the go since we arrived in Phoenix on Saturday. Patrick is interested in getting a Pendelton blanket and an internet search took us to Cabela's. To say this store is big is an understatement. Not only do the carry goods for almost any sport imaginable but they had the biggest display of taxidermy animals I'd ever seen. Here's a few of the photos we took. Look so real huh?

Arrival in AZ

Hubby and I left San Jose at 9AM on Friday for our drive to Phoenix. We stopped in Gilroy to have breakfast and then drove into Pasadena where we refueled our car and had a bite to eat. We continued to Blythe, CA to gas up one more time before crossing the Arizona state line. We managed to make the 700 mile trip in 10 hours and had only one hiccup when we encountered an accident on the Grapevine which slowed us down for a little bit. Overall it was quite a pleasant drive.

A first for me...

I attended my first football game EVER! Hubby's coworkers went on a group outing to the Stanford vs. USC game complete with tailgate party. We participated in a fabulous cookout/picnic with plenty to eat and drink. We all sat together to watch the game which I actually found quite pleasant, even with the jeering, obnoxious USC fans in front of us.
It was a sold out game!

LH Construction in progress

I'm making good progress on Little House Neighborhood and hope to have it done by the end of the month. Not sure yet how much stitching I will get done during the Thanksgiving break and our trip to Arizona.

World Diabetes Day

Today is World Diabetes Day (WWD), the primary global awareness campaign of the diabetes world. It was introduced in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization in response to the alarming rise in diabetes around the world.

Whatever are you doing on World Diabetes Day, take just  a moment to consider the facts behind the campaign:
• Every 10 seconds a person does from diabetes-related causes.
• Every 10 seconds two people develop diabetes.
• Over 250 million people live with diabetes worldwide.
• Over 500,000 children under age 15 worldwide live with type 1 diabetes.
• Type 1 diabetes is increasing fastest in pre-school children, at a rate of 5% each year.
• Type 2 diabetes had been reported in children as young as eight.
• Type 2 diabetes affects children in both developed and developing countries.

AHHHHH! I was tagged!

I was tagged by Karen R., Where the Stitches Cross to share six random things about myself.

The rules are as follows:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your request.
5. Let each person know that they've been tagged by leaving on comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know your entry is up.

So here are six random things about myself:
1. I love doing laundry and fold it and/or hang it as it comes out of the dryer.
2. I prefer to go to bed before my husband does or I have trouble sleeping.
3. I'm a very punctual person and hate to keep anyone waiting on me.
4. I prefer to drive and don't do well as a passenger.
5. I love shoes and handbags and never seem to have enough of them.
6. I've been with my current employer for almost 21 years.

Okay now it's my turn to tag six people...so they are:

Veterans Day

Veterans Day is an American holiday honoring military veterans and is both a federal and state holiday in all states of the USA. This day honors ALL American veterans, both living and dead. In fact, Veterans Day is largely intended to thank living veterans for dedicated and loyal service to their country. The day that we ensure veterans know that we deeply appreciate the sacrifices they have made to keep our country free.

Happy Birthday Sarai

I want to wish a very happy, special, and loved filled birthday to my daughter Sarai. Love you sweetie.

New Santa

When the November issue of The Gift of Stitching magazine came out this month it was love at first sight when I spotted this little guy by Prairie Schooler. I just have a weakness for the big jolly man. He's stitched on 14 count adia in golden harvest using the DMC floss called for.

American Diabetes Month

November is American Diabetes Month, a time to bring even greater awareness and attention to the seriousness of diabetes, its complications, and the importance of proper diabetes control. The American Diabetes Association leverages opportunities both nationally and locally to raise awareness about diabetes and its serious complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness and amputations.

Nationwide almost 23.6 million people have diabetes. While 17.9 million people have been diagnosed there are approximately 5.6 million people still undiagnosed. More than ever this disease is affecting minorities and children. Hispanic/Latino Americans are 1.8 times more likely to have diabetes while 1.6 times more African Americans are likely to have diabetes.
