Quote of the week

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It never between you and them anyway.

New Project and History of an old one...

I started Lady of the Flag by Mirabilia back in 2003 and while I did most of the stitching in about 6 months I stopped when it was time to add the beads. Why I didn't add the beads as I went along still eludes me. All I can say in my defense is that it was my first such project and at the time it seemed a good idea to leave them for last. And now she sits just waiting for those beads. I'll have to find her and post a picture. Maybe I can be bullied, cheered, or coerced into finishing her. LOL!
I've had this chart, Fairy Grandmother by Lavender and Lace in my stash for years. Recently I've seen a few completed Mirabilia and L&L pieces and I decided it was time to dig into my stash and tackle another. I even had this one kitted (except for the beads)! I started it on 8/24/11 and will post an updated photo this weekend.

Hopefully I will do better the second time around.

"You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise."

Hubby's milestone

This weekend my husband Patrick turned 50. My daughter and I threw him a Hawaii FIVE-O theme party and we had a blast. The food, courtesy of THE TACO LADY was awesome! The kids had a jumpy to play in and goodie bags and the adults had plenty to eat and drink. We saw friends we hadn't seen in awhile so it was wonderful catching up.

Stitching update...

I've made a bit more progress on Wild Roses by Carriage House Samplings. Think this is going to stitch up quicker than I thought.

A finish and new WIP

Earlier this week I finished Chocolate Shoppe by Little House Needleworks as my project for the Cake SAL on the LHN/CCN Yahoo Group. This was done on 18 count Tan Marble aida by Sassy's Fabbys with regular DMC floss. Should fit quite nicely into a 6"x8" frame and make a lovely gift for a special gal I know.
My new work in progress is a chart I've had in my stash for quite a while. While I have a few other projects to complete this one was just calling out to me so I went ahead and started it. This is Wild Roses by Carriage House Samplings. I chose a 20 count Golden Sand lugana and using the DMC recommended. The picture doesn't to justice to how well the threads pop on the fabric.

An adventure in framing...

I decided to do my own lacing and framing for Liberty-1776 by Little House Needleworks. It was my first attempt and I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. The lacing took me awhile and I was afraid I ruin my piece but I'm sure with a bit more progress it will become easier. I even got the frame pieces at Michael's and put it together myself. I can see doing others in the future and it sure is a savings.

The Chocolate Shoppe

I made a little more progress on my piece for the Cake SAL on the LHN/CCN Yahoo group.

Isn't this sweet?

Written for me by a very dear friend.

Milly, Milly, she's a dilly
Stitcher exemplar we all know
In a chair or in bed
With needle and thread
Her stitches all neat in a row.

Quote of the week..

Life it too short to wake up in
the morning with regrets.
So love the people who treat
you right, and forget about the
ones who don't and believe
that everything happens for a
reason. If you get a chance;
take it. Nobody said that it
would be easy, they just
promised it would be worth it.
