I voted!

Why vote? Because voting is a civil right, hard-won for many, and the foundation of our democracy. Millions of people around the world have no say in who governs them, so don't squander your own power. Every single vote really does count.

Ornaments galore...

On Wednesday I picked up 15 ornaments I had dropped off at the finisher's back in August. My goal is to be able to fill up a metal 250-ornament tree I bought two years ago. I'm about half way there! Here are a few of my new ones. The others are posted to my photo album.

WIP update

I was able to make good progress on two of my WIPs this week.

New to the herd...

I got these awesome Cow Tin Boxes from my friend Delena. She does the painting on these items herself and I've become a huge fan of her work. Thanks DJ!

Happy Birthday Son

Hard to believe I actually have a son who is turning 32 years old today. Where have the years gone? I found a few pictures to remind me.
Happy Birthday Miz! We love you and miss you very much.

Farewell Levi!

Levi Stubbs, 1936-2008
Motown Legend

Levi Stubbs, the  lead singer of the Four Tops whose voice was featured on hits "Baby I Need Your Loving" and "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)," died on Friday, October 17th at the age of 72. Stubbs had been ill with a stroke and cancer.

I was fortunate enough to see the Four Tops in concert over a dozen times and they were my favorite singing group. I was their #1 fan! Levi has been silenced by death but the beauty of his music will live forever.

Finishes and stuff

Prior to going on vacation I received this adorable bag from Becky. She picked the perfect fabric which is not only patriotic but has some adorable cows. I just love it! THANK YOU!
Here are the other two ornaments I finished while on vacation in Lake Tahoe. Both are from the newly released Just Cross Stitch 2008 Ornament issue.

Goodbye Tahoe and "friends"

I can't believe our week stay in South Lake Tahoe is coming to an end. We had such a great time this week in spite of the cold and snow that greeted us the day we arrived. The weather improved immensely and we got a chance to explore, walk, take pictures and just relax. Tomorrow morning we are heading home and will probably just take our time and enjoy the drive. I'll miss my "friends" here...LOL!

New from LHN

I was lucky enough to stitch the model for "The Angels Sang." This design is a companion piece to the ornament featured in the newly released Just Cross Stitch 2008 Ornament issue.
Also new is "Hen Party"

Walking in Tahoe

Hubby and I had another terrific day. We had breakfast at our favorite place, Driftwood Cafe and then walked over to Harrah's and played a quick game at the slots machine. Our limit today was $10 each...hehehe...we're such high-rollers!

We then drove into Carson City, Nevada where the weather was a wonderful 73 degrees. Felt good to finally shed our sweater and jackets. We browsed Borders, Michaels, and the Walmart Super Center. We had lunch at La Salsa Mexican Grill and then got back in the car and headed back towards South Lake Tahoe. We stopped at Logan Shoals Vista Point and took a short hike and some photos.

Tahoe beauty...

All traces of snow are gone and today we had a crisp clear day. It was a chilly 41 degrees but still pleasant enough for a walk.
See the ice that formed on the rocks?

Wow...SNOW!

Hubby and I arrived in South Lake Tahoe yesterday to find snow. I hadn't walked in the white stuff in 14 years and hubby hadn't been in it in almost 27 years. I think what shocked us both more was the cold...BRRRRRR!

In honor of...

I lost my dear aunt Elvira to breast cancer in 2005 and my husband lost his sister-in-law Teri in 2004. This is to honor them.
