Bittersweet Memories

I can't believe it's been 12 years since my Dad passed away. As the years have gone by the pain of losing him as lessened but the memories of him are still with me. Sometimes when I least expect it a saying, a picture, or a song will bring him to mind and I either laugh or have a good cry. But his favorite hymn brings me comfort so I wanted to share it with you today.

Why should I feel discouraged
Why should the shadows come
Why should my heart feel lonely
And long for heaven and home

When Jesus is my portion
A constant friend is he
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches over me

Small finishes

I like to carry a small take-a-long project with me during the week and mostly work on it during my lunch hour. This week's project was "My Favorite Time" by Lizzie*Kate. I decided to finish it into a mini pillow along with the other Lizzie* Kate I stitched last week.  Now to decide what to work on this upcoming week. Nothing like digging through the stash : )

Mystery SAL

I have completed parts 7 and 8 of "How Does Your Garden Grow" by Papillon Creations, Papillon Créations - Page d'accueil

I love how this piece is turning out!

Kreativ Blogger Award

My new friend CarolA Stitchinaddiction has nominated me for a Kreativ Blogger Award. We met on the LHN/CCN Yahoo group and we seemed to have clicked from the get go. I figured it's because we both have a warped sense of humor. LOL!

Here are the rules for this award:
• The winner may put the logo on her blog.
• Put a link to the person you got the award from.
• Nominate 5 blogs.
• Put links to the blogs.
• Leave a message for your nominees.

So my nominees are:
3. Linda, Litla Skvís

What's an ORT Jar?

In a conversation about how much thread we save or don't save I mentioned that I kept an ORT Jar. So here is a picture of my ORT Jar which I've been filling with my left over scraps, remnants, and snippets of thread. I started putting them in this jar about five years ago for no particular reason other than if looked cool sitting on my stitching desk. Every time I look at it I remember a particular project or finish and it gives me a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Of course as you can see I didn't stop there and also started collecting the little tabs from the DMC floss. Did I mention my hobby is an "obsession." LOL!

Spanish Sampler SAL

I have completed parts 3a and 3b of the Spanish Sampler mystery SAL by Periphaeria Designs and I love how this is turning out. Never thought I'd be a fan of stitching the "unknown" but here I am involved in three of them and enjoying them all.

LK finish

The gals of the Lizzie Kate Stitchers Yahoo group are currently in a SAL for any LK Santa. I chose "Tis the Season" for this SAL. It was quick fun stitch and I hope to finish it into a mini pillow. I didn't have the charm pack called for on the chart so I improvised and used buttons that I had in my stash.

On Thursday evening I had a chance to attend my first EGA meeting. We had a presentation by Martha Mille on making a Pincushion Needle Case. I got a kit to make mine out of felt and I'm looking forward to working on it. Want to thank "my girls" (members of my local stitching so they know who they are) for not giving up on me. LOL!

Blogging...Take 2

Thought I try this new forum and see if it's easier than my current blog. Time will tell.
