Mid-Week Update

Yet again I'm a little behind in posting my weekly update. Where do the days go?!?! I've been working on some exchange pieces so at the moment I have only one small finish that I can share. This is from the current Just Cross Stitch Ornament issue. I still need to make a list of the ornaments I'd like to get done from this magazine and hope to work on that while I'm on vacation next week.

I also did a little stash enhancement and got the latest designs from Little House Needleworks, Country Cottage Needlework as well as two from Lizzie Kate.

Call me Granny

My son and DIL are expecting their first baby in May of 2010. To say that I am excited is an understatement. I've waited a long time for this moment considering my first grandchild will be 13 in January. Now to plan my stitching and crocheting accordingly. Wooohooo!!!
WHAT ARE GRANDMAS FOR?
Grandmas are for stories about things of long ago.
Grandmas are for caring about all the thing you know...
Grandmas are for rocking you and singing you to sleep.
Grandmas are for giving you nice memories to keep...
Grandmas are for knowing all things things your dreaming of...
But, most importantly of all, Grandmas are for love.

Weekly Update

I don't have any photos of my stitching to share this week because my projects are for two exchanges which I'd like my partners to see first. I worked on one while with my stitching group yesterday and I made some great progress on it. Thanks to the gals for the inspiration.

Speaking of thanks I want to give out a B-I-G thanks to Brenda (Brenda Lou's Place) for her generosity. I was admiring her progress on the Prairie Schooler alphabet when she so graciously offered me her charts. I got these six in the mail from her. THANKS Brenda.

And last my not least I got the much anticipated Just Cross Stitch 2009 Ornament issue in the mail. I've already looked through it a few times and there are definitely a few I will stitch soon. Now to make my trusty list, pick out fabric and gather some floss.

Bedroom Makeover complete

Our new bed was delivered on Friday ending our six week makeover project to our bedroom. I'm just loving the new bed, new paint, and new flat screen TV (a birthday present from my husband). I have posted complete photos at:

In Remembrance

The September 11 attacks were a series of coordinated attacks by terrorists on the U.S. On the morning of September 11, 2001 four commercial passenger airlines were hijacked. Two of them were crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in NYC and the buildings collapsed. The third one crashed into the Pentagon in Virginia and the 4th crashed into a field in rural Pennsylvania. There were no survivors from any of the flights. In total 2,993 died on that day. Let's remember them today.

A Birthday Weekend

To celebrate my birthday hubby and I decided to go to Monterey, CA, a gorgeous little town located along the Pacific coast about 60 miles from us. We spent our days talking walks, enjoying the wonderful weather which was mostly in the lows 70s along the coast in Monterey and on the streets and beach of Carmel. We even got daring enough to rent a surrey bike and pedal along the ocean...talk about WORKOUT! LOL! Our evenings were quiet spent at our hotel reading, stitching, and just relaxing. We took plenty of photos which I will post soon to our photo blog.
I started a new project by Bent Creek as part of a SAL with the other members of the Bent Creek, HIH and Trilogy Yahoo group.
I haven't added much to my stash lately but here are a few things I've purchased lately.
And last but not least is this wonderful Pendleton Tote Bag which my husband got for me.

Stitching Retreat and WIPs

Friday morning the gals and I headed for Asilomar in Pacific Grove, CA for our stitching retreat. We made a stop at our LNS on the way there, a trip to JoAnn's and lunch at Vivolo's Chowder House before checking into our rooms. We had an awesome stitching room where we met at 4PM and stitched the night away to almost midnight. I spent most of Saturday stitching so I made progress on the following projects. Sure was hard leaving on Sunday afternoon.
Spanish Sampler by Periphaeria Designs
Christmas Double Flip by Lizzie Kate
Colonial Women by Little House Needleworks

Here is the view taken from the balcony of my room at Asilomar. See why it was so hard to leave?! The ocean was so close.
