Fair and Square Exchange

I participated in Round #27 of the Fair & Square Exchange and was partnered with Daniela from Finland. Here are the lovely squares I received from her (designer Barrick Samplers).
Here are the squares I stitched for her.
It's a Papillon Creatures freebie called Three Emblems.

Fair & Square Exchange

It's been awhile since I participated in the Fair & Square Exchange so it was fun to get back to it. I was partnered with Jennifer and here are the squares she made for me. As you can see she dedicated them to my 20th wedding anniversary which hubby and I celebrated 3 months ago. I just love them.
Here are the squares I made for Jennifer. Autumn is my favorite season so it was really fun stitching this JBW design for her.

Weekly update

I'm on the road to mending and had my stitches removed from my toe on Friday. Not quite sure I'm ready for shoes yet but it's nice to be free of the "wooden boot."

It felt good to get back to my stitching after such a long break between vacation and surgery. I worked on Mildred's Garden House by Blackbird Designs and have made some good progress. Hopefully this week I can finally start The Family Sampler by Little House Needleworks.

I participated in the Fair & Square Exchange and got these lovely squares from Kathryn D. Thanks so much Kathryn, you obviously know of my love of cows and this Lizzie Kate is one of my favorites.

My update...

I haven't been posting much as my projects are taking a little longer these days due to my obsession with Facebook. (Hey, might as well come clean!) I was also away this weekend and spent 4 days visiting with my daughter in Arizona.

I stitched some squares for my partner in the "Fair & Square" exchange and I will post pictures of them when they are in her hands. I've also been concentrating on my crocheting and still need to finish the blanket I started for my grandson who is due in late May. I did finish a lap blanket for a friend who will donate it to her church as part of a fund raiser. I hope it helps them out. My last crochet project was a pillow for a special gal who celebrated her birthday on March 23rd. She's a very big Oakland Raiders fan so it's done in black and silver and the number is of course her date of birth.

Fair & Square Exchange

I got those gorgeous squares in an exchange from my partner, Lynda A. from Oregon. She obviously knows I'm a big fan of Little House Needleworks and these are just perfect for my collection. Peace is from the chart "Lucy Fairchild" from LHN's Dear Diary series. Thanks Lynda.

Sampler Pattern Contest

Alma and Barb posted this sampler pattern as a contest on their blog on April 14th.
I stitched mine in  honor of my maternal grandmother Antonia. She was a very special woman, who in spite of her limited education, was an amazing seamstress. My grandmother could crochet, do embroidery work, and sew (both my machine and hand). I was the lucky recipient of many beautiful dresses made by her including a gorgeous white empire dress I wore for my 8th grade graduation. I lost my grandmother to pancreatic cancer when she was only 55 years old but she made a strong impact on me.

I chose red, white, and blue (DMC 321, 823, and 3865) in honor of the flag of her birthplace, the island of Puerto Rico. I plan to finish this piece and give it to my mother for Mother's Day.

Melissa P, my partner in the Fair & Square exchange received the squares I stitched for her so I can now share them with you. The design is Spring Rain by Tanya aka The Sampler Girl.

Update and catching up

I haven't been able to post or keep up to date this week with messages since I've been down with acute bronchitis since Friday. I've mostly spent the week in bed just sleeping and watching (well more like listening) to endless TV shows. I must be improving since I'm getting a little antsy and have a desire to get back to my stitching. Heck even the idea of going to work sounds appealing! Must be the drugs talking. : )

Anyway I did received these pretty squares from my partner in the Fair & Square exchange. Thanks Melissa P.  I love them!

Weekend Update

Seems like so much as happened this week considering it started off with a visit to Disneyland in Anaheim, CA on Monday. My husband and I met our daughter and 3 of her friends for breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel and the spent the day in the park. We drove home on Tuesday and while we had a great time I was thrilled to leave the Los Angeles traffic behind us. Pictures of our trip are posted to our personal photo blog:

My finish of the week is "Beneath the Sunlit Sky" by Blackbird Designs. I played a little with the colors substituting the WDW or GAST with Crescent Colours. It's stitched on 28 count bone lugana.
I received the squares from the Fair & Square Exchange. For some reason my original partner dropped out and Sharon was gracious enough to stitch these lovely squares for me and even included some extra little goodies. Thanks Sharon!
And last but not least I picked up "Ladybugs and Bumblebees" by Country Cottage Needleworks from the framer. Picture is not the best since it's hard to avoid the glare from the glass but you get the idea. It's already hanging on the wall. LOL!

Stitching Update...

I finished Seasons of Change by Bent Creek and even found time to frame and hang it.

I added the latest installment to my Spanish Sampler, a mystery SAL by Periphaeria Designs. I love how all the colors blend together while each section stands alone.
Prior to going on vacation I finished and sent my squares to my partner Vonna and since she has received them I can now share them with you. The design is from the chart True Forever by Bent Creek.
